Something fun happens in the Autumn – the river gets more exciting – for existing paddleboarders this is the best time to have fun and improve at the same time. With a bit of flow, we can teach and have fun in different ways. Indeed, our instructor, Al Gay, will teach and tour to whitewater paddleboarding down the river Wye if you want to!
These sessions run over 4 Sundays and each week will cover specific aspects of adventure paddling – from planning, kit and clothing, flowing water techniques and Paddleboard rescue training. We will also plan an expedition for paddlers to join us later in the year.
Each session will have a maximum of 6 people, giving you lots of one-on-one time with the instructor.
Paddleboard Lesson FAQ
What should I wear to the paddleboard lesson?
Depending on the weather we would recommend a wet or dry suit as there is a chance that you will be in the water at some time either as a result of practising manoeuvres or as part of the SUP rescue sessions. It is possible to do the lessons without either but there is a possibility that you will get cold once you are wet.
Are there changing facilities?
Unfortunately not – we recommend the use of dry robes or towels to assist in getting dry and changed at the end of a session.
Where are the Paddleboard Lessons?
We start and finish at our Launch Point in Batheaston – Right next to the car park.
