Axe throwing is a recreational activity where you throw specially designed axes, knives and other carefully designed objects at wooden targets, aiming for accuracy and precision.
While axe throwing might initially seem risky, it is, in fact, a very safe activity. Our instructors are Wilderness Range Instructor qualified, prioritizing your safety and enjoyment. Our dedicated range area is equipped with protective netting to prevent any unintentional entry by people or animals, and we maintain a safety zone between ranges. The primary safety consideration revolves around the potential for axes dropping on toes, underscoring the importance of wearing sensible footwear.
For an axe throwing session at an outdoor range, it’s advisable to dress appropriately for the weather conditions. Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and closed-toe shoes with good traction, especially if the terrain is uneven. Consider bringing layers or waterproof gear if there’s a chance of rain. Additionally, apply sunscreen and consider wearing a hat for sun protection. Always follow any specific guidelines provided by the outdoor axe throwing venue to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience in varying outdoor conditions.
We are happy to let anyone over 7 on the range but in our experience, children over 10 have the strength to be able to throw an axe hard enough to reach and stick in the target.
You are only as young as you feel!
If you want to have a go and are over 7 then we are happy to instruct you.
Yes. Coaching by our trained instructor is included in all our Axe throwing sessions
You do need to prebook your axe-throwing sessions. You can book online up to 30 mins before the start of each public session (as long as we have availability)
Alcohol consumption during axe throwing sessions is strictly prohibited. Participants must not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. If the instructor suspects impairment, the individual may be ineligible for axe throwing, and refunds will not be provided.
You can have up to 4 people sharing a lane however the more people you have the less time each one will get to throw. We recommend that each participant has 3 throws in a row, each one taking about 1 minute to complete. If there are 4 people sharing a lane then each person will get 3 mins of throwing followed by 9 mins of watching. Each 30 minute session has around 25 mins of throwing time.
Our mobile range requires 20m x 10m space on soft ground.
We run 30-minute slots. We spend the first 5 minutes of each slot with a safety briefing and the rest of the time is spent on the range throwing.
Yes. You can book back to back slots or you can book more than one lane for the same time slot.
